The home
We teamed up with RM Koemans on this 1990s Park City home brought back to life. The owner wanted natural materials throughout, including a fireplace that had been the room's weakest visual point.
Tile around a heat source
A fireplace surround takes daily heat cycling that most tile installations never see. We selected a natural-material tile rated for the clearance and heat exposure, set with a mortar formulated for high-heat applications rather than a standard thin-set.
The result
The fireplace became the anchor of the room instead of something to work around — proof that a single well-executed tile feature can change how an entire space reads.
